an awesome game, we used tonplay it for hours. there is luck involved but the more you play the more strategic it gets and you start thinking on another level than beginners

Description
Dog has similarities to the Pachisi / Sorry! family of games, but with a few noticeable twists. The object of the game is to move own men from home to the target area as fast as possible. They are moved in a clockwise direction along the course according to the value of the cards. The winning player or team is the one who has first placed all its 8 men in the target area. The first twist is that play is based on a hand of cards held by each player, with the start player and quantity cycling on successive hands from six cards to two cards, and then resetting to five, progressing back to two. Card values range from 1-13, with a number of special actions represented. The second twist is that it is a partnership game, with the players winning or losing as a team, which adds a significant level of strategy and tactics to the game. Partners trade one card at the beginning of each round, and once one player from a partnership has completed his or her group, his or her plays now assist his or her partner. Compact Dog is a travel version of Dog, restricted to 4 players, rather than the 4 or 6 players the full game supports. Shares similarities with Partners, though apparently are not the same game.

I mean the Swiss version - called Brändi Dog - excellent components. It's a great partnership game.

Probably the best family game I own. People always enjoy it and it's quick and the team aspect is great. Ultimate camping game as well.

A great take on a traditional game. Even better than when I first played it. Got it as a birthday gift from a special non-player friend who heard I loved it - I am stunned. Yeah!

By far the game we play most! We use the Swiss version and rules, which is a slightly different game then this one. It's a standard go to game with friends, not overly complicated but takes some strategy to work it out with your partner. Especially the part on working together with your partner is what makes the game fun. I truly don't understand how people take hours to finish this game, the longest we ever take is an hour and a half and that includes getting up to drink or smoke.
