Like a giant game of Rummy, but it’s so much better. When you’ve got 13 cards in your hand at the end, trying to make 4 sets to get out, it’s great fun. Even after a player wins, all the other players get one more turn to try to minimise the forfeit. Sometimes you score zero, brilliant, sometimes you end up with a fist full of cards which score 50+ points, very bad. Lowest score wins at the end. Myself (50), my mum (85), my sister (52), my daughter and her boyfriend (both 20) all love playing it. So it has a wide appeal across the generations. An absolutely fantastic game for anyone who enjoys classic card games.

Five Crowns
In each hand, in addition to the six Jokers, other cards are designated as wild: in the first hand 3s are wild; in the second hand 4s are wild, and so on until in the last hand the Kings go wild. (You can remember which cards are wild because it matches the number of cards in hand, i.e., in the first hand you hold three cards and 3s are wild.) A hand ends when a player can meld all cards in her hand after the discard.

Probably my most-played game with family. True royalty in the rummy genre, and the perfect game to play in the background while you chat about life.
Five Crowns is a perfect game for when you want to keep playing, but you also want to talk some, and senses are dulled from the food, drink and play earlier in the evening :)
Even if you think you are winning in the early rounds of this set collection game with 5 suits, it can all change in one hand. In each round you have one more card in your hand, and those points will count against you if you can't play them when someone goes out.
There's a reason this game is still in print almost 30 years later. Perfect card game that has strategy and is easy to learn and fun to play again and again. A family favorite.
