For Northwood! is a solo trick-taking game where your goal is to peacefully unify the kingdom of Northwood. Over eight rounds, you visit various animal fiefs and engage their rulers in dialogue. Each ruler requires you to win an exact number of tricks to join your alliance. With multiple difficulty levels and 24 rulers, it offers hours of gameplay with a new puzzle each time!

Description
For Northwood! Is a solo hand management and precision trick-taking game. Your objective is to peacefully unify the kingdom of Northwood through conversations with their rulers. Over eight rounds, you must visit eight animal fiefs and engage their rulers in dialogue (tricks). Each ruler's suit represents the trump for that fief. Each ruler also requires you to win an exact number of tricks to join your alliance, so the game gets harder as your options dwindle. You start with four allies, each with an ability that you can use once per visit. These abilities can make you draw, discard, or otherwise manipulate your hand to help you hit the target score. Once you've won a ruler over, you can pull them in to substitute temporarily for one of your allies, if you need a more specific set of abilities to tackle the harder fiefs. With multiple difficulty levels, 24 rulers (12 used per game), and a 16-scenario challenge booklet, For Northwood! offers hours of gameplay with a new puzzle every time!

I haven't played this game for a bit, but I love this game. One game that my family used to play when I was growing up was called Blackout (Oh Hell). If you aren't familiar with it, it's a trick taking game where you have to get the exact amount of tricks you bit. If you get less/more than you bid, you lose that round. That's exactly how this game works and I love it! It's a solo game and I will always play it when I'm in the mood.

I really liked this game. Of all the solo games, this game is the most interesting for me. The game takes me from 30 minutes to an hour. Great replayability due to the different positions of the rulers and their combinations, since only 12 of the 24 rulers participate in the game.

For Northwood! Is an absolute delight. The art work and setting are inviting. The gameplay is crunchy, snappy, and satisfying. The setup is lightning fast. For a game of this size and complexity, I can not imagine a better experience. If this is not a 10/10, then nothing this size is.

First of all, I have to admit that I love trick-taking games, but I'm not a fan of solo games (which is inherent to the nature of trick-taking games themselves). However, this little gem captivated me from the very first moment: varied, tactical, exciting, gripping – I love it! After countless plays - yes I get addicted - I had to upgrade… 9->10
