Might possibly be my all-time favorite game. Will NEVER turn down a game or ten of this.

Note: this maps are only suitable for people who have at least understood the basic strategic concepts in the base game. Both China and Korea maps will make you question what you think are the optimal plays in Power Grid. Amazing! China features a 'Planned Economy' where power plants 10~30 are opened in a fixed order and power plants are opened only during Bureaucracy, while Korea features a split market where you can only either buy from N or S Korea but not both. Both also have barely sufficient resource replenishment rate. With this expansion, you would understand that Capacity isn't always King. Player Order manipulation and Resource Starvation are key too.
Power Grid Ultra! Whole new strategy and dynamic. If I had to pick a single expansion, this would be it. Though all are great.
Korea: Brutal due to the lack of resources. Seems easy early on with 2 markets but later on supply, notably coal, drops making careful power plant purchases critical. Biggest complaint is having 2 markets can slow down resource buying while people work out cheapest market to use. China: great map that completely changes the PG experience. There is 1 plant less than the number of players most of the game and less resources making every auction critical and making you pick between a new plant or expansion, which is done at a snail pace. Also every new plant comes out in order so you know the next round will always be slightly better than the last. Very brutal but great fun.
(comment applies only to China) An interesting variant of Power Grid that removes most of the luck. Not recommended with beginners.
