Soloable. Guilds of London is a thinky, medium, area majority/card drafting game. Its multi-use cards, unique tile placement, and exciting combo activation possibilities, far outweigh the investment required to learn the extremely heavy iconography. Probably my favourite game, but difficult to find players. The solo experience is an enjoyable and challenging puzzle.

Needs a little bit of patience but absolutely worth it! High replayability, diverse strategies, well balanced. Great experience! As a plus, components are really well made.
This is a great game. Essentially an area control game, it uses multi-use cards and has huge replayability due to the random selection and positioning of the guild tiles. It also scales well according to number of players. But what makes it a 10 for me is the addition of an official solo variant.
Looks like a perfect 2 player Strategy game. The use of cards appear to be absolutely brilliant. Can't wait to get my hands on this one.
An excellent area control game that uses a card driven engine to provide the manipulation of the board state and player interaction. Card combos drive fast paced changes in the game, and lots jostling for position (it can be better to finish second in some guilds). Turns are quick, so once players are familiar with the game it should clock in around 60-75 mins with 4 players. The modular about of the board means there is lots of replayability and the vibrant artwork shines through and makes the iconography clear and easily identifiable once you're familiar with it.

The Guilds played a major role in the lives of London's citizens, controlling the way in which trade, manufacturing and business was conducted in the city. The members of the guilds were rich men, who were appointed to the most influential positions in the community and wielded immense civic power. The chief representative of the Guilds became the Lord Mayor of London, and the leading delegates of the Guilds became his Aldermen. Other members of the Guilds were the burghers of London. The Guilds ran the city and controlled its commerce; each had its own Hall and its own Coat of Arms. Representatives of the Guilds met at the Guildhall to discuss the great issues of the day.
In Guilds of London, you place your liverymen in strategic Guilds, building your power base, so that you can achieve the status of Master in many of them. You also have the opportunity to spread your power into the commercially valuable Ulster or Virginia plantations. Control of each Guild provides victory points and additional actions that you can exploit, so that you can control the future development of the city.
