Gwaeryn is the fortress of Clan Aeryn, one of the few Jarin clans that managed to maintain their lands when the Ivinian Vikings invaded northern Hârn and founded the Kingdom of Orbaal. Gwaeryn rises in the upper valley of the Anoth River, between the Jahl and Felsha mountains. The territory is hilly, wild and densely forested; the inhabitants are rough people, accustomed to long winters and hard work. Nearby hides a Jmorvi chapel, of which few residents are aware: the lord of Gwaeryn, Symael Aeryn, guards its secret as his ancestors did before him.
The supplement describes the history, government, religion and economy of the settlement and presents the Path of Ilvir, one of the main pilgrimage routes to Araka-Kalai, the home of the god Ilvir. Included are descriptions of some local craftsmen and other locations in the settlement, as well as a complete description and color floor plans of the castle, along with color maps for game masters and players. It also includes a 2-page description of the Gwaeryn inn, a 10-page description of the Jmorvi chapel (magic school) and a 4-page description of an Ilviran cult camp dedicated to human sacrifice.
