Stupendous. Just as good as the first one. A little more challenging, but I don't think that is a bad thing since the first one was on the easy side.

Il Signore degli Anelli - Le Due Torri - Trick-Taking Game
In each chapter, each player takes a different character role and each character has a condition that must be met in order to pass the chapter and advance in the story. As you advance through the chapters, new characters, items, and challenges are introduced to the game. The One Ring is the game's only trump card, but initially rings can't be led until someone plays one off-suit.
In the two-player game, one hand of cards is dealt to a dummy player, with some cards being face up and others face down. This dummy is assigned a character, and one of the human players will play cards for it based on which cards are free to be played.
In the solitaire game, one player plays four hands of face-up cards, with each hand being assigned a character and only a few cards being available at a time. After you play a trick, deal each hand a new card.

AMAZING!!! Some awesome new mechanics here, while still keeping the core structure.
I love this game and always enjoy playing it. The thematic integration into the mechanics is brilliant. Take Treebeard, for example. Since he talks so damn slowly, he has to play the card he prepared the round BEFORE into the trick THIS round. Sounds like it doesn't make sense, but it works brilliantly while being thematically on target for the character. I can't see ever not wanting to play this is offered.
It's clever, all of these missions are remixes on partnership trick-takers. Making the relationships more overt, for those who didn't see them in the first game. And they're still a lot of fun in this sequel! The main flaw is extra time spent just to explain how the new rules and events even work, these are a bit more complex. Not a huge problem, and it makes it feel like the stakes have gone up, but it does mean certain players will feel paralyzed on decisions with no information. CATTLE PROD TIME.
