Jacek Yerka, real name Jacek Ryszard Kowalski, born 1952 in Toruń. Based on precise imaging techniques modeled on old masters (Jan van Eyck, Hieronymus Bosch), but above all on his own imagination that knows no limits, Yerka created his surreal world. Full of symbolism, details, references to fairy tales, mythology and surreal dreams. A style that combines surreal compositions with detailed realism, commonly referred to as 'fantastic realism'. His work is especially admired by fantasy lovers; in 1995, at the World Fantasy Convention, he won the prestigious World Fantasy Award for the best artist.
