Next Gen includes 2 unique cars, 4 powerful items, and 12 tracks across 2 maps, all of which are compatible with any other Joyride game. Tracks in this version can accommodate 3 players with the addition of a car from any other set.

The Electric – robotic control that comes at a price.
The Learner – an instructor’s assistance when your driving is too risky.
Maps
The Driving School – wind through chicanes on different lines every lap.
The Warehouse – dodge the attacks of the security bots.

Lots of fun. yes it's derivative but its easy to play with anyone. It def needs at least the two expansions to have sufficient depth.
We only play team mode, so I initially purchased NG on discount for the extra cars. Nice. With minor modifications, we've had great luck with also using the courses as tight, brutal team maps.
CAUTION! Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. It contains small parts which could be swallowed or inhaled.
