Our couple has played Life of the Amazonia over 30 times now. It remains a captivating theme with rich and variable strategy -- part bag building and a larger part terrain/animal pattern placement. We haven't found the wooden upgrades for the pieces necessary -- the thin carboard works just fine if you are careful with your games.

Probably my current favorite game! The waterfall component has not yet been a problem for us. We did buy the upgraded trees & some coin capsules for the tokens. Duplicating bits seems wasteful; I wish those particular components were better quality in the base game.

Played this at 2026 WellyCon, absolutely loved it. I really enjoy the spatial puzzle and track progression. While you do spend a bit of time focusing on your own board you do need to be aware of what the other players are doing so they don't snag the last animal or the card you had your eye on.
