Description Description
In May of 1940, the Germans launched Fall Gelb (Case Yellow). Scores of German divisions flooded through the Ardennes and across the borders of France, Belgium and Holland. The blitzkrieg tactics first used in Poland, in 1939, had been put into action again—and perfected. For over six weeks the Allies, including the British Expeditionary Force (BEF), put up a staunch defense. Despite their defiance, they could not withstand the fierce onslaught of the German Wehrmacht, the fearless Fallschirmjägers and the notorious SS. Heroes in Defiance depicts the full range of the battles for France and the Low Countries, from the first Fallschirmjäger airborne assaults in Holland to the closing of the pocket of the BEF and the remnants of the French Army at the Channel ports. The module combines all the scenarios and components from Heroes of the Blitzkrieg and its expansion, In Defeat, Defiance, into a new and updated complete game in the Lock ’n Load Tactical Series. Heroes in Defiance also adds five new scenarios (two previously unpublished) and eliminates the need for overlays with additional maps. It’s the blitzkrieg of 1940 at its best!

I've played enough scenarios now to know that this is a great game. Every scenario is different -- really it's like a box of different games each using the same rule set, because all the scenarios within have different circumstances. Once you know the rules, LnLT plays fast, rewards smart and daring play, and rewards replaying, because you can constantly try out new approaches. Hours and hours of good play time are in this box!

I like this game. It has some of the most beautiful maps I have ever seen. Really well done. There are a ton of scenarios to play. The system is great but the rules are a little illogical in their layout. But once you get the system down, it is a fast and fun game to play. Update, the Core 5 rules are the best in the business and I raised this game to a 10. Excellent and for me, the best, in squad based games. Excellent graphics, rules, balance, realism, counters (no clipping needed).

This module and Heroes of the Nam has the highest quality of the scenarios of Lock 'n Load Tactical.

This module is one of the best value in my opinion, loads of scenarios and some very good ones, 5 different Nations + SS & Fallschirmjägers. Lot of fun & replayability. Probably looking ot get the X-Maps at some point when/if they are in sale

Excellent Lock 'n Load Tactical Fare. Buckets of scenarios to play. Not all balanced, it must be said, but all compelling and fun to play. Tremendous value for money! As for the system: Excellent rulebook, I cannot praise it highly enough. Combat resolution is fairly clean once you get the required reps in. Charts are clear. Impulse system creates tension. System can be made as simple or complicated as you like. Even if you chuck everything in, tanks, planes, AT, helicopters, ATGMs (in the modern games), the chrome is still quite manageable.
