After getting the rules down it is a lot of fun and very quick. You'll want to keep beating your score and prevent the AI from getting ahead before you score. Highly recommend the solo variant.

I like this solo! I know it's not GS Clever, but I don't think it's trying to be...

Pam 9.5, Tim 8 A great dice game, that captures the feel of Medici beautifully. Only played 2p so far, I suspect it will be even better with 3p or 4p - and it is! Also adaptable to 5p, adding 5points for 4th place.

Most board game covers aim to conjure a world that simple cardboard and plastic components cannot. While fantastical artwork inevitably offers a false promise of what lies within, Medici: The Dice Game does the opposite. This is probably one of the only games I have seen whose cover features a literal depiction of what is inside. And for this reason, it is one of the rare games that fails to capture its own brilliance and depth. Medici: The Dice Game distills the richness of its older brother in every way, offering a crunchy, thinky experience that ends as quickly as it gets started.

Silky smooth continuation of the Medici line of games. Players roll five dice, with the roller choosing 1 to 3 of the results, and all other players choosing 1 of the remaining. Results are recorded on a “roll and write” score sheet in both ship value on the die faces, and the commodity tracks. In Medici fashion, play three rounds scoring for ship value in the round, and the growing commodity tracks across the three rounds. Works just as expected, and it’s excellent.
