In the mountains around Bolzano, someone pushes a girl off a cliff. Ten years later, the body of a drowned child is found on the Tyrrhenian coast. Meanwhile, a whimsical and maladjusted boy, obsessed with extraterrestrials and the idea of compiling a dictionary that goes beyond language, hangs out with his parents at a luxury seaside resort. He falls in love with a teenager, challenges kids to ping-pong, fantasizes about the future success of his work. During a party at his wealthy uncles' house, his fixations escalate to the point of fleeing with three friends to the opposite coast. Amid dreams of great erotic exploits, asylums, alien contacts, and prostitutes' apartments, he will ultimately confront the most horrible of his own secrets.
