Mykerinos: Special Edition
Mykerinos immerses you in the world of Egyptian archaeology. Lead four excavation campaigns, manage a limited number of archaeologists and decide how to deploy them: start new digs, expand existing excavations, secure patrons with unique abilities, or pass for strategic advantages. Each scoring area resolves by majority and your final museum display determines the victor. A challenge rich in tactical choices, perfect for 2-4 players.
In Mykerinos, players lead archaeological campaigns and compete to bring to light artifacts from ancient Egypt, while simultaneously gaining the favor of influential patrons. But excavation is only part of the challenge: the final exhibition at the Museum will determine who obtains lasting prestige.
The game unfolds over four campaigns. Each campaign introduces a new excavation region composed of scoring areas formed by pairs of lottery cards. Players manage a limited number of archaeologists and must decide how to employ them: start an excavation, expand an excavation, turn to an already-obtained patron, or pass to secure advantages in turn order.
Patrons offer unique abilities and open new strategic possibilities for future campaigns.
Once all players have passed, each scoring area is resolved by majority. Players, in order, can choose to claim a lottery card, gaining prestige and a patron, or send archaeologists to the Museum to strengthen their final exhibition.
At the end of the fourth campaign, prestige is awarded for the lottery cards collected, for patron cards obtained through Museum influence, and for complete sets of all five different patrons. The player with the most prestige becomes the most celebrated archaeologist.
This Special Edition celebrates Mykerinos' twentieth anniversary with completely renewed components and new illustrations by Amelia Sales and Pedro Soto. It also includes all extra content in a single box: the Nile expansion, a quick play mode, and a team mode for 4 players.
