Incredible game. Combat is good and the 6 choices of units + somewhat random terrain keeps things interesting. Game never overstays its welcome because the victory conditions can be met rather suddenly. Doesn't really reward you for carefully building and maintaining your supply chains since you'll just get stomped by somewhat who's been collecting victory points for accomplishing certain offensive goals. Theme is good, map is good. Works REALLY well with 3 players, and avoids the trap that some 3 player games fall into where it devolves into a 1984esque constant two against one. Setup is easy and game is easy to introduce to new players. Perfect game in my opinion.

Units are composed of various alien races and have stats similar to those used in the Axis & Allies series. Combat is also similar. Players who lose battles are compensated with Energize cards which grant them special powers later. Players can also obtain Energize cards by controlling the Monolith, a raised structure in the center of the grid. The first person to reach the required number of victory points wins the game.

Short and sweet "dudes on a map" game. I like the facts that the goal is not to annihilate the other players. Instead, you complete "missions" by picking and choosing your battles.
This game alone makes Twilight Imperium looks like unwieldy, cumbersome 4x game (and I really like Twilight Imperium). Nexus Ops is hybrid of wargame and 4X stripped down to essence, and what a glorious essence it is. This game is true evergreen. I expect it will never fade away.
There is a place in my heart for those plastic miniature dice rolling games. What so often those games get wrong is being balanced or close to the very end. It is not uncommon for victory is such games to be gained by simply being the last player standing, which I do not find very fun. Nexus Ops avoids this, and with the king of the hill, points scoring, balance, lack of player elimination, and never fully sure who is going to win, simply rises to the top. It is, to me, the best of such games.
10/10! There is so much to like about this game. It's an area control game that goes quickly. The miniatures are stylish, and the rules are intuitive.
