Description
In Codenames, two teams face a square grid of 25 word cards. Each team has a captain, and both captains can see (via a hidden picture) which cards belong to their team, which cards are neutral, and which single card is the "assassin".
On a turn, the captain gives their teammates a clue such as "Car 4". Those teammates then select cards (up to the number given) which they think the captain might have in mind for the clue (perhaps "Wheel", "Electric", "Vacation" and "Price"). Choosing a word not belonging to your team ends the turn, and choosing the "assassin" word makes you lose immediately. Assuming neither team falls to the assassin, the winner is the first team to uncover all of their own words.

A solid game that you must have, its simple but so fun to play with a lot of unique combinations, ideas, references that you can bring in that make the game so much more valuable thanks to all the interactions that happens. Love this game.
A perfect party game. Easily accessible rules, fun to speculate, and it's usually simple to come up with a clue to match at least a couple words, though it becomes more fun when the codemaster stretches it and risks giving points--or even the game--to the other team.
The perfect title for any family gathering. The only game capable of pushing it off the table during our get-togethers is Decrypto.
Codenames is the best party game full stop. This is not hyperbole. It is incredibly balanced, it involves everyone at the table, manages to generate interesting discussions and offers great variability and amazing tension. Haters back off
CAUTION! Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. It contains small parts which could be swallowed or inhaled.
