Description Description
Recreate the experiences of soldier Hiroo Onoda during his stay on Lubang Island — thirty years of adventures, danger, comical situations and tragic moments, life and death and, above all, a demonstration of the resilience of human beings in adverse conditions — in the solitaire game Onoda.

During six rounds of variable duration, you have to obtain a number of resources that will allow you to finish the turn without suffering penalties. In each round, you will also undertake a mission, earning honor points for it. During your adventures, you will experience some of the events that the real-life Onoda had during his stay in Lubang. If you manage to overcome the six rounds without going insane due to paranoia or dying due to ill health, it will be time to see whether you will be recognized a hero or fade into oblivion.

Onoda will get different results depending on the amount of honor you have accumulated solving missions, keeping your comrades alive, and keeping your squad in good shape.

One of the most amazing true stories of WWII becomes an amazing solo experience. There's some real tension and pathos as you try to keep your fellow soldiers fed and protected each round.

Awesome game lots of fun. Mitigating luck isn’t for everyone but it definitely is for me.

This design is a complex undertaking. Gradaille evokes the horror and tragedy of Onoda as innocents are terrorized, farms are raided, and companions perish in the wake of one man's imaginary, unending war. Sessions are mercifully short. This game may be tough for some solitaire players that prioritize optimization puzzles, but Onoda is an incredible work.

Very solid solo game where the theme can do wonders. The overall mechanisms start to feel a bit redundant, but the game is so fast that it’s wrapping up by the time you get there. Certainly comes down to a lot of luck, but also very entertaining. One big negative that draw bag is too small for the tokens to adequately bounce around for randomized draws or for your hand to fit easily. Rulebook could also use a better back page that reminds you of flow and actions. Score excluding my love for the theme is probably a 6.5-7.

Surprisingly good! Ordered this to get the Operation Barclay wooden tokens, and was originally not fond of the theme. But it was a lot of fun to play and has some replay ability due to random events (saw about 50% in the first game), random objectives, and random repair locations for equipment. Production quality is top. I found some minor errors in the rules, but the game flows very fast after the first three (out of six) rounds. Overall: If you seek a fast, compact, and entertaining solo game for a good price, this is your choice. P.S.: Has less meat that "Resist!", but is still more my cup of tea.
