From the beginning of the Roman Republic to the end of Imperial times, five patrician families took a leading role in the history of the Roman Empire: Fabius, Claudius, Valerius, Cornelius and Aemilius. Up to five players lead these families to wealth and glory in Oppida: Cities of the Roman Empire!
Fleets and legions are sent out from Rome to settle down in cities that produce food, bricks, iron, cloth, wine and gold. Individual abilities are enhanced by using senators and diplomats wisely. When the Roman Empire is completed, the most powerful patrician family will win.
Each player starts with an identical set of playing cards, and more cards can be acquired during the game. These cards serve two purposes: They are played to choose actions, and they deliver victory points (VPs) at the end of the game. Oppida is a strategy game which requires planning ahead and consideration of the opponent's moves. Every game is different because of the sequence of new cards on sale and the modular layout of cities. When all cards have been sold, the game ends. The winner is the player with the most VPs.
