Description Description

It is said that Wiraqocha created the sun and the pre-Columbian tribes of the Andes. Under his leadership, those who will train the mighty Inca people came out of their caves to discover new horizons in order to subsist and grow in harmony with nature. They venerated Pachamama, Mother Earth, the basis of all living things, plants and minerals, on earth and under the earth. Lead your tribe into unknown territory in search of new lands to cultivate. Your goal: To explore regions and draw outlines to develop cultures according to the customs and legacies of Pachamama. If you honor Her by respecting its great principles of diversity and complementarity, Nature will reward you. Otherwise, you will suffer his wrath. In this race, risk taking, deduction, intuition and a good sense of timing should allow you to get through. It’s up to you to choose the type of scenario depending on the number of players and the type of game you want: Quick and opportunistic or longer, more developed and strategic. RUNNING OF THE GAME ROUNDS ++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++ Starting with the first player and turning clockwise, each player must perform one and only one of the following 3 actions: EXPLORE MOVE MAKE DIVINATION During his turn, the player can also if he wishes (and if he has the necessary offerings) MAKE AN OFFERING TO PACHAMAMA The end of the game is triggered when all lands have been discovered. 1. EXPLORE ++++++ +++++ REGIONS AND LAND TILES Exploring allows you to discover and reveal the unknown territory of the playing area by placing Land Tiles and determine the outlines of the Regions. RULES OF MOVE The player moves any of his explorers (one per turn) to an empty virtual square in the playing area (a square without a Land Tile). Explorers still not engaged on the playground can enter any peripheral square. An explorer moves only orthogonally. An explorer moves one square OR can “jump” explorers of his color AND any cultivated Land Tile. In other words, the explorers of his own color and all the cultivated Tiles form a “path” on which explorers can move without limitation of distance. On the other hand, an exporer can never pass over an opponent explorer. There can never be more than one explorer per Tile. For an action, an explorer, wherever he is, can “get out” of the playing area. This can be very useful for example if an explorer was to be “blocked” and no move is possible anymore. DISCOVER A LAND When the explorer stops on an empty square, he “discovers” it automatically: The active player announces the coordinates of the square on which his explorer is located: a letter and a number. The player with the Pachamama Wheel in hand turns the Disc (“shutter closed”) to the coordinates of the square announced by the active player. Then he opens the “shutter” to reveal the type of Land Tile to lay (Swamp, Desert, Mountain or Forest) The active player takes this Land Tile in the reserve and puts it on the virtual square, under its Explorer Finally, the player takes an offering cube corresponding to the Land Tile he has just discovered. At any time, a player may trade 2 Offering Cubes for another. Attention: a player can never have more than 4 Offering Cubes in his possession. If he receives a 5th, he does not take it where in exchange 2 against 1. 2. JUST MOVE ++++++ +++++++ In turn a player may decide to simply move one of his explorers without discovering new terrain. 3. MAKE DIVINATION WHAT IS DIVINATION? Make divination is to propose to Pachamama the field that can be planted where your explorers are. There can only be one solution each time. By announcing the right kind of culture, Pachamama honors you: you earn points. If you make a mistake, Pachamama punishes you: you lose points. WHAT ARE THE 3 RULES OF PACHAMAMA? In a Region of 1 tile, there is necessarily a Culture 1. In a Region of 2 tiles, there is necessarily a Culture 1 AND a Culture 2. And so on. In a Region, there can only be ONE Field of the same type Two Fields of the same type can never be adjacent, neither orthogonally nor diagonally. HOW TO PROCESS TO A DIVINATION? In turn, for each of its explorers on a Land Tile non cultivated, the player can try to guess and announce which Field should be there (after deduction, at random or... thanks to a sweet mixture of 2 !) We then turn the Pachamama Disc to the coordinates of the Tile in question and remove the Viracocha Pawn ( ) to reveal the answer. If it’s the right answer: The player puts the corresponding Field Token on the Tile The player scores as many points as the size of the Field (from 1 to 5) and he moves forward his Score Stone. In case of right answer, the player moves forward his Diversity Stone on the scale corresponding to the Field he has just put. He scores additional points as explained below in the chapter “Diversity Scale” If he wants to, he can continue making divinations on anothers Tiles with anothers of his explorers. If it’s a bad answer: The player puts the corresponding Field Token on the Tile The player loses as many points as the size of the Field of the correct answer. He can not continue to attempt divination with his other explorers: his turn ends there. Note: we can go below 0. 4. MAKE AN OFFERING TO PACHAMAMA As soon as he has recovered 4 different types of offering (), a player can discard them to make an offering to Pachamama. An offering may allow the player to: do an additional action immediately or consult the Pachamama Disc to see what kind of feil there is on any empty space not yet discovered or any discovered tile. END OF THE GAME The end of the game is triggered when a player places the last Land Tile on the Playground (ie there are no more empty spaces on the Playground). All players, starting with the player who has just laid the last Land Tile can then do one after another 1 divination, one explorer after another. Each player can also discard his offering Cubes to score one point per cube. The player with the most points is declared the winner. —description from the publisher
