Erweitert Piraten of Maracaibo um asymmetrische Kommandanten, 4 neue Varianten des Entdeckertableaus, Forts, Rum und neue Karten. Wer das Grundspiel mochte kann mit der Erweiterung nichts falsch machen. Extends Pirates of Maracaibo with the additional layer of asymmetrical Commanders, 4 new variants of the explorer board, Forts, Rum and new cards. if you like the basegame you can't get wrong with this expansion.

Enjoyed what this added to the base game and the asymmetric play the commanders add although some of them are much easier to exploit than others (and thus feel much stronger - haven't played enough of them or enough times to know if this is true). Like the addition of cannons and forts and another option in different locations.

After a series of expansions that ruined my beloved games, this is finally one that truly makes sense. I love converting Ship Upgrades into Cannons, then attacking Forts and reaping the rewards of successful assaults. It’s both highly thematic and seamlessly integrated into the base game. The Commanders are also a great addition, with their new permanent skills and slots that can be activated by defeated Forts or Rum barrels. That said, the Rum element feels like the weakest part of the expansion. I never really had the opportunity to use it, as I rarely saw a clear benefit. All in all, it’s a strong, must-have expansion.

Will always play with this one going forward. The new asymetric captain tiles are super powerful and fun to play with, and I love the way you get two tiles and pick the captain side on one of them and on the back of the other you have a bunch of bonuses you can trigger with rum and fort tiles.

I am enjoying all kinds of asymmetric games, and this expansion did not disappoint at all. It's quite easy to implement. We have played it with Fog of war and Pirate Skirmish module. My friend kept attacking fortresses and he won by almost 100 points ahead despite the fact he only had three cards in front of him. Definitely changes tactics a lot.
