In The Princes of Florence, players attract artists and scholars to their palace while trying to become the most prestigious family in Florence.

Over seven rounds, players attempt to score points in various ways, with most points being earned by playing profession cards to generate "work points", which can be exchanged for money or victory points. The game includes a variety of professions, such astronomers, organists, and architects; each profession is attracted to a particular combination of building, landscape feature, and social freedom, and players acquire these items via auctions. The more that a player can match these preferences, the more work points they earn — but the minimum requirement of work points increases each round, and you must meet that threshold in order to convert the work points.

Quite possibly my favorite game. The different aspects of the game and how you interact with other players is always a good time. Just remember, you really can't over pay for a jester early. 60 cards Game Plus sleeve size: Standard European (GPS96703, 50/pack) - (2-5/16” x 3-9/16" - 59 x 92mm)

The game I love that loves me back. I think there is still one more level of understanding that I am not quite on yet. Just a beautifully designed game that takes practice, patience, discipline, a little bluffing, an economic understanding, planning, tactical nuances, etc. Might I mention it also scales well. Although I don't think 5 players makes this game shine, I'm not going to turn down a 5 player game. My love for this game gets challenged by Caylus and others, many fantastic designs, but ultimately this wins because I prefer a game that is mostly strategic. It's just what I appreciate.

My very experienced gamehost said this was one of his all-time favorite games, and I see why. There was still a bit of a learning curve for me, but I can see all the replayability, and I came in 2nd of four, even though it was my first time playing. Would definitely play again!

Excellent and elegant strategy game with best auction implementation I have seen in strategy board games. Careful planning ahead and balanced play rewards you greatly and can lead to victory. Princes of Florence is a unique game, such auction and tile placement combination I haven't seen in any other board game. Works excellent with full amount of players - five players. With full amount of players recruiting cards raise in value much, however you still depend on your own plans. Much player interaction, much strategy decisions and I like the theme - renaissance works for nobles and art. Also this games looks great, but not exaggerated and overproduced as many other games today.

I learned this one for the first time on Wednesday, and we played two games in a row haha! Won the second one :D So many painful (in a good way) decisions to make, not a lot of gotcha moments, but enough of them to give the pvper in all of us a little glee! LOVE this game!
