Description Description
The first expansion of Project Gaia.

Thanks to the Moweyds, the spaceships of the Lost Fleet were found. The news has spread to the furthest reaches of the galaxy. Both far and near factions are trying to seize the secrets of these ancient civilisations, and the newcomers are rapidly establishing their bases on previously deserted asteroids and proto-planets. No faction can afford to lose the race to explore the spaceships that have emerged from deep space, as these contain remarkable C.I.Q. interfaces and a lot of unusual technology.

NEW FACTIONS
The Moweyds, Adjutaroids, Oscurians and Space Giants add new game options. None of them have an origin planet and all start with a single structure. These factions introduce new special abilities that create new game situations and give rise to interesting new strategies!

NEW ACTIONS
The ships of the Lost Fleet are just waiting for your shuttles to arrive. Once you have reached them, you will have the chance to use new actions, form new federations, obtain new Base Technology tiles and receive curious artefacts.

NEW PLANETS
Space is now also home to asteroids and protoplanets, which can be colonised through special processes.

NEW SECTORS
Deep Space Sector tiles and Hyperspace tiles change the game board.

After 1 play. Expansion expands already wide action and decision space of the base game.

+Faction Rebalanced +New Opportunity and other currency action +Opening position less obvious +Gaiaformers serve greater purpose -Map expanding even more. Harder to charge. Some factions suffer from this.

I thought at first the original game didn't need an expansion, it probably didn't as a solo game but it had some issues, such as "better" factions than others, gaia formers could become a bit useless... I really like the attempt at balancing factions and making all the tech tree branches feel useful. So now I think it's a great game both for solo and multiplayer if you are ok with a bit longer games. For multiplayer the total number of factions is a bit too much but its a great variety for solo.

The Lost Fleet expansion for Gaia Project fixes all the problems with the base game and establishes it as the best TM game and as the premier heavy strategy euro. In addition to greatly improving the balance across multiple aspects from factions to tech tracks, The Lost Fleet greatly improves the mid- and late-game interactions by increasing the resources factions will obtain, allowing them to fight over critical points in a way that was difficult before. This addresses the issue of runaway leaders and front-loaded interactions that exist in other TM games.

Best game in the system. This expansion makes the base game significantly better, even though it doesn’t add that much content. It actually made me downrank Age of Innovation, because this game is clearly superior. The only thing I dislike is the artwork.
