Another brilliant re-implementation of QM for five players. Unique, different than both QM+expansions and Victory or Death, and strategically deep and tactically engaging. Everyone in our group loved it from the start! Edit: After nearly 100 plays this is quite clearly the BEST 5 player game in my collection Another Edit: This is truly a 10 as the best 5 player game ever!

Quartermaster General: 1914 (Seconda Edizione)
Quartermaster General: 1914 is a fast-paced strategic wargame on World War I where the Central Powers face the Allied forces. Each nation has its own unique deck with different strategies and strengths. Cards serve dual purposes: play and prepare, or spend cards to recruit troops and wear down opponents. Manage your resources wisely—depleting your deck too quickly can leave your armies without supplies in the final rounds. The game ends after 17 rounds or when one side achieves decisive advantage.

Quartermaster General: 1914 is the entry in the acclaimed Quartermaster General series by Ian Brody dedicated to World War I: the Central Powers face the Allied powers in a fast card-driven wargame reflecting the military, economic and political aspects of the era.
Each power has its own deck with distinct strengths and strategies for excellent replayability. Each card has two uses: one when played and one when prepared. On your turn you can play and prepare a card, or spend cards to recruit new troops or wear down opponents. The deck represents your nation's resources: using it too quickly can leave your armies without supplies in the final rounds. The game ends after 17 rounds, or sooner if one side achieves decisive advantage.
This is the second English edition (Griggling Games, distributed by Ares Games with code ARTG014), with renewed board and graphics. Contains: rulebook, board, 216 cards, 45 wooden armies and 16 fleets, 2 score markers, round tracker, 2 reminder tokens, 6 objective tokens and 5 aid cards. 2 to 5 players, ages 13+, 90-120 minutes duration.

It shouldn't be a surprise that the Quartermaster General system suits WWI. This has quite a different feel from its WWII predecessor. Another success after the disappointing Victory or Death. UPDATE: 1914 is significantly better than the original QMG. It's a great experience with a full complement of 5 players, very good with 3 or 4, and also makes an excellent game for 2 experienced players.
Completely different game as QMG WW2. Gone are the fast movements and expansion. Every battle is difficult to prepare and play. The cards are multi-use now in earnest, you really need to see what you take and what you let go. The cards do not go away in the first turn, a problem with QMG novices who could screw their games in the first turn. Here, this is mellowed somewhat. Supply is not deadly anymore, so a much more positional game emerges (fitting). All in all, an excellent change for me. It is, however, more suited to the WWI aficionados due to the slower overall pace. Prepare to unlearn your WW2 tricks and go into a new experience. Highly recommended.
After 5 plays, I love it so much. It is easy to teach yet hard to master and there are many ways how to outwit your oponents. The system is clever and the historical aspect is outstanding. It can also be played in any number of players between 2 and 5 without any balance issues, which is golden for a boardgame. No problem if there is a mix of experienced and first time players (you balance it by selecting teams acordingly)
Another masterpiece by Ian Brody While this game may not measure up to his magnum opus (the original) it is still, an extraordinary game, which captures the first world war, in only two hours. I savor the genius of prepared cards, which allow one to play out a months long campaign, without taking half the game.
