RAF Lion. France has fallen. England stands alone against the might of a triumphant Germany, defended only by the Spitfi re and Hurricane squadrons of the Royal Air Force. Hitler orders his mighty Luftwaffe to destroy the RAF in preparation for Operation Sealion—the invasion of England. German fi ghters and bombers fi ll the English skies and the RAF responds. Now you command the RAF or the Luftwaffe in history’s greatest air campaign—the Battle of Britain. Improving on his award winning solitaire classic, designer John Butterfi eld ramps up the historical accuracy, tension and play options in this game. RAF Lion puts you in control of British Fighter Command, responding to German raids. The game’s unique card system generates targets and forces, which may remain hidden until after you commit your squadrons. Your foe is no mindless system: the Luftwaffe has priorities and a strategy. Scenarios range from one raid day, taking an hour to complete, to the full campaign, playable in 12 hours.

Might just be my favorite solitaire game. The solo bot play feels surprisingly strategic, and always presents a challenge. The game also greatly rewards intelligent use of resources and tactics, rather than just being luck-based. I wish the components were just a little nicer, but I love the game nonetheless.

Great solitaire game, which really does have the RAF player wondering at almost every turn what more can come his way. I note some in the forum have said that the full campaign is a 'bit vanilla", and it's true that the players have to repeat similar actions each turn. However as a simulation of the real event, it is this point that makes one aware of the length and breadth of the actual Battle of Britain. Not from an individual pilot's standpoint, but from the leaders trying to prevent the destruction of the RAF, and the inevitable invasion that would have followed. Good value for money, and excellent quality components. Gift from Sandy - 2017

It offers many decisions and is easy to play with Stuka Joe's cards (they also hold your place if you have another life to attend to). The pieces look nice but are too thin (tweezers help); and I'll be playing it often. I'm looking forward to playing the other side.

Played both Lion and Eagle but not the 2 player version. Thought the game was a top notch way to play the Battle of Britain. Will be playing on a regular basis.

Fantastic Solitaire game that I have taken to the table many times. Numerous relevant decisions and great replayvalue. Usually follow this operationel game with a single squadron in the equally fantastic Skies over Britain.
