Rarely do I like expansions, but this one -- after initial scepticism -- turned out to enrich the game once we were experienced enough with the basic game. Keeper.

More mages, more monuments, more artifacts, more magic items, minimal rule additions. Perfect.

Good expansion. Borderline essential - this does provide some small patches: 1. Creates scaling rules 2. As part of scaling rules, it also nerfs the big gold strategy 3. Adds some more options for dragons I like the scrolls, and new cards/PoPs, but those are more non-essential.

The 10 is more an indication of the original quality of Res Arcana, and that game happens to be one of the best engine builders ever made. Lux is a solid "extra content" sort of expansion, allowing for more surprising combinations and possibilities. This is still an amazing game to me in how lean it is in any given session, but how varied the strategies can be. Anyway, nothing here detracts from that, and it helps the game scale a bit better.
