Description
The Salt Route is the main road between western and eastern Hârn: a dangerous path that crosses the territories of four barbarian nations and countless rivers and streams in the 170 leagues that separate Coranan, in the Republic of Thard, and Tashal, in the Kingdom of Kaldor. Merchants travel it year-round, but rarely in small groups: large well-escorted caravans transport salt and other goods from western Hârn to Tashal every spring, then return in autumn with products from eastern Hârn and Lythia.
The article covers the history and economic importance of the route, describes the daily routine of a typical caravan and what travelers can expect along each stretch of the journey, with interesting characters that player characters might encounter. It also includes a color map and description of a typical caravan camp.
