Schildkrötenrennen
On the colorful flower meadow, everything is ready for the start: Five turtles in different colors have gathered to determine the best sprinter of their kind. Each player is secretly assigned one of the turtles. Only he knows which one he should advance - but not too obviously, otherwise the competitors will do everything to ruin his victory. The game is kept lively by plus and minus cards that determine the movement distance and direction of the respective turtle. Sometimes players have the freedom of choice. In that case, it is particularly important to pay attention to discover the opponent's favorite turtle. An additional fun element: If a turtle lands on an occupied space, it simply sits on top of the other and gets carried along in the next turn.
It takes about 20 minutes for the first turtle to finally reach the finish line at the other end of the flower meadow. Its owner is then the winner of the game. If there are fewer than five children participating, all five turtles still race. In that case, it can also happen that a neutral turtle arrives first at the end of the flower meadow, and the player whose turtle is closest to the finish wins.
Schildkrötenrennen is an easy-to-understand racing game for children aged 5 and up, cleverly incorporating tactical elements and bluffing opportunities. This makes the race not only immensely fun for children but for the whole family. In its debut year, 2005, it was nominated for the Children's Game of the Year and is now set to conquer the next generation.
