Surprisingly fun game that seems really complicated at first but is quickly taught, learned and played, even with the 2 additional modules (Governors & Records). Scales nicely. Lots of both tactics & strategy. Very nice player interaction. Wonderful rondel mechanisms for both acquiring tiles & paying from them. Just plain fun!

Seeland is a fantastic updating of older style games. It borrows from the great area control and tile laying games and simultaneously fixes things that were often lacking with that generation.

It's a very nice game that can be easily explained to others. I love the 3 ways you can play Seeland. You can use the base game as a teaching game, a game for non gamers, or a game with young children. Then you can use the more complicated variants for more strategic playing. The components of this game are beautiful and the two-sided puzzle board is ingenious. I like that there's difficult choices at both the market and when planting; you get to try and minimize your opponents points while maximizing yours in both phases of your turn. This game is fast, the gameplay is satisfying, and it scales perfectly between 2 and 4 players.
