Description Description
We’re in 19th century, sea transport is more and more important. Both corporations and naval forces require newer and newer ships. Try to put yourself in the role of their manufacturers. Hire employees, buy accessories, get favour of evaluating committees. Don’t forget to rent a canal and you can heave anchor. Players take turns, beginning with a randomly selected player and continuing around the table clockwise. On their turn, they will choose one of the available actions from the Action Track. The action will get the player something they need to help build their ships. If a player completes a ship on their turn (ships consists of little cards depicting bows, sterns, and (preferably several) middle pieces with several options to add equipment or crew), it is taken out for a shakedown cruise in a canal, during which they may score points for speed, crew, equipment, or safety. As players take their turns, the line of Action Cards will advance around the Action Track. When the lead Action Card reaches the Starting Space again, the countdown marker moves down one space, and play continues. The game ends when the countdown marker reaches the finish space. (It can also end early if the players run out of Ship Cards.) Bonus points are scored for Government Contracts, and the player with the most points wins.

Not for everybody but it totally works for me as a solo player. Building ships is so satisfying.

Yes! The box contains a game in the game: how to close the box after having built the cardboard construction! I did it after playing WOODCRAFT and after one hour of art & craft to cut it properly (overhead crane). This was crazy!!! Next...start reading the rulebook... ...Shipyard is smooth, elegant and clean with many crucial choices during gameplay (it is very strategic and tactical). One of the best in its genre.

This is a great game. Never played the 1st edition. First game too about three hours but as we became more comfortable the game pace became faster. Look forward to playing this one again

Reminiscent of Age of Sail, in a good way. Great table presence of numerous smaller boards utilizing simple mechanisms for play management. It took a few attempts to get into, but once the way the numerous smaller strategies work together clicked, it gets really addictive. The assembly of the cardboard components was good fun too. Rating star lost for some cloudy rules, and score track needs to be longer. Plus, there is no way to get full satisfaction from launching enough ships in the recommended two player game length; we play either 5 or 7 cubes - depending on how much time we have - for 2 players to get enough construction and scoring to happen.

Me ha gustado mucho. Lo que no me ha gustado es que el inserto de la grúa una vez montado no coja bien en la caja. Creo que la editorial debería cuidar más estos detalles.
