Central Asia circa 160 CE. Europe and China were linked for the first time as traders established the Silk Roads. Wealthy cities grew on the crossroads of the longest roads. The great distances through plains and around mountain ranges could best be traveled by horse. Only the trader who dominated a road gained its great wealth. Silk Roads is an abstract tile placement game on an 8x8 game board. Players take turns to place sections of road (tiles) while following the topological restrictions imposed by the tiles already placed. The game is over when there are no more empty squares on the board or all players have passed. Each player then gains the wealth from the roads they dominate. The winner is the player who has gained the greatest wealth. Dominate the expanding trade network of Silk Roads, while keeping a close eye on other players’ routes. Silk Roads is only available as part of the Ancient World Multi Game System from Playford Games. -description from designer
