In Slide, you try to push your cards into your display in such a way that you score as few points as possible. Keep an eye on your competition, as to win the game, you should always be one step ahead of them!
At the beginning of the game, each player receives sixteen cards, which they arrange face down in a 4x4 grid in front of them. The cards have values from 1 to 10, with each number appearing ten times.
In each round, you take any face-down card from your grid and reveal it in the center. The player with the slide marker takes one of the revealed cards and slides it from the side into their grid to fill the gap left by the removed card. Then the others follow in clockwise order.
Pass the slide marker clockwise after each round and start the next one. After 16 rounds, everyone will have a fully revealed 4x4 grid in front of them. Any number in a grid that is adjacent to the same number is removed, and the sum of the values of the remaining cards gives the score. The lowest score wins.
What makes the game special? / Why is it published by Strohmann Games?
Slide stands out with its very accessible and simple rules. The game can be explained in a few minutes, yet it is not trivial in terms of gameplay (without being complex), is played quickly, and is simply a lot of fun.
