As the designer, I can't be objective about this game. I think it's great, but I made it that way. I love the tension between engaging with the "draft" (the grave piles) and the market; you're always skirting with FOMO. And you have to balance cards in hand versus projects versus your number of commits. It presents an interesting optimization puzzle every time.

Each field of study at the Academy of Dark Arts is different and requires different skills. Alchemy takes time but can grant you abilities instantly. Reanimation requires just the right ingredients if you want to really impress the professors and can help you build future projects even faster. Sorcery takes work, but can grant you new abilities depending on the phase of the moon.
On their turn, players can choose to scavenge for ingredients or to go get more projects to work on. At the end of each round, players can commit their ingredients to projects and hopefully finish a project so they can reap the rewards of a job well done.
The game ends after four semesters have passed and players present their projects for review. Choose your thesis and fields of study wisely and even you can get your degree in darkness!

I divine that this game is a sleeper hit waiting to be unearthed (see that, I added a few puns in there). Anyway, I absolutely love this game: Super thematic in both the academic/thesis setting and the hunting for projects/ingredients. It plays quick and the balance is well-designed. If anything, I just might wish there would be more cards once you have several plays under your belt (but wait, I think someone already conjured up an expansion). Anyway, I think this is truly a hidden gem and my group of friends all love it!
I had a lot of fun with it. I'm only giving it a 7 for now due to some wonky and unclear interactions and timing. After a second go, it is worth an 8. The engines can go nuts.
Backed the kickstarter and got the playmat. A great resource management game with a cool theme. Easy to learn. I would definitely recommend the playmat... it adds a lot. It's a little creepy... would be a great game for october!
What a pleasant treat! Played a round of this solo and it was fantastic! Very easy to setup with a simple bot to manage. The turns move quickly and starting with an objective is super helpful with pointing toward a direction to start in. Very much enjoyed this and hope to play it with others soon. Solo
