Description Description
In some of the best versions of reality, the Egyptians discover America, the industrial revolution happens early, and eventually robots take over. In others, the Renaissance produces a plutocracy, which leads to a utopia – or perhaps to anarchy; it's all in the subtle details. As a time-traveler, you've seen it all, and it all has its place. What's important is who's in control in the long run when time travel is invented. With other time-travelers mucking with things for their own reasons, your course is clear: you will tamper with history as much as is needed, stepping on however many butterflies it takes, to get a perfect world under your own benign rule. In Temporum, the board shows the possible paths history can take and the actual path it currently takes. On your turn, you can change history, travel through time, and visit a point in history. You draw cards, play some of them for money and abilities, and score some of them to advance your power through history. Having more power in a time period gives you abilities, but your goal is to have all of your power in the last time period, the time from which you come.

This game is really cool. If you're a fan of Dominion, you should immediately see why Temporum is good upon playing it. Actions have depth, player number totally changes the game, and the scoring system has an interesting risk/reward system to it.

Easy to pick up. My smart pre-teen daughter likes it, and my hard-core gaming buddies like that there are ways to sabotage other players, so covers a lot of ground. Depending on teh eras chosen, you can have a pretty different game every time.,

Excellent game with area control and worker placement. Changing worker placement spaces between games ensures no two games are the same. Artwork is great! Only issue is box is way to big for the pieces.

As with most Donald X games this is a game that has a very simple rule set but much deeper play and great replay ability that is wrapped in a quick 30 minute game. Very simple mechanics: change time, move to a time and execute that time spot. The complexity comes with the time cards mixed with cards in hand. A great tactical time travel game that thematically make sense although isn't soaking with theme so if your looking for that this might not be for you. Just another quick fun home run game by Donald Vaccarino to go along with other great: Kingdom Builder, Dominion, Nefarious, Greed and this.

So far, DXV doesn't seem to be a designer for me. I admire Dominion and Kingdom Builder, but I don't find them particularly fun or interesting. I wasn't expecting I'd be wowed much by this one. However, I really enjoyed it. I liked how the time travel and history-changing worked, and thought the flavor throughout it was a lot of fun. It was good with two, but I think a full compliment making it more chaotic will be even better.
