This is one of my top 5 favorite boardgames. The special edition remake really pushes it up there for me due to how obviously well thought out and well made the player boards are. The metal coin tokens are chef's kiss! Great gameplay with lots of replayability.

The Castles of Burgundy is set in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France. Each player takes on the role of an aristocrat, originally controlling a small princedom. While playing, they aim to build settlements and powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and use the knowledge of travelers.
The game is about players taking settlement tiles from the game board and placing them into their princedom, which is represented by a Duchy board that is placed in the Player board.

What can you say? It's Castles of Burgandy deluxe edition! It doesn't get any better! Beautiful game.
We love this game. It was more overwhelming to look at and setup, then to actually play. I'm glad we bought the special edition as I could see myself getting bored with the based edition after a few plays. We still have to incorporate the vineyard play, but that just adds to it's playability.
Clear 10/10. Many games are great but after years of thinking what is really classic and what no... I have many good games in my collection but this castle shining over all...For two players is this holy grail....
Now that it's been remastered, this game has become a must-have for collectors. It's simply great—no further explanation needed.
