Description Description
The 4th Expansion is a new game board with Monasteries printed next to the play area.

The following rules are then added to the basic game play of "The Castles of Burgundy":

As soon as a player creates a direct, straight connection between two monasteries with 5 connecting tiles on his game board, he earns 5 victory points.

The first player to complete all three connections between his monasteries wins an additional bonus of 5-7 victory points (for a 2-4 player game). The second player to complete all three connections wins 2-4 victory points.

This means that a player can win a maximum of 3x5 + 7 = 22 additional victory points over the course of one game.

Love these boards! Recommended for the new layouts alone, whether or not you use the monastaries for points.

The monastery boards for castles of burgundy are quite interesting. We usually just use them as part of the board selection and ignore the monasteries. However gameplay as written is fun as well.

Included with our Special Edition. Love having all the extra maps, completing the borders for extra bonuses is a nice bonus. Maps 23-30

I really enjoy the Monastery boards. They just allow for another way of scoring throughout the game. They will be used every once in a while when i play this game.

We've played with the monastery boards twice now and we do like them. It gives an extra way of getting points as if Castles of Burgundy wasn't point-salady enough :)
