The Warrens (GDR)

The Warren is a role-playing game by Marshall Miller where the protagonists are intelligent rabbits trying to survive in a world filled with dangers, predators, and, worse yet, other rabbits. It is a game focused on themes of survival and community. There are many creatures, including humans, who are much larger, stronger, meaner, or more numerous than rabbits, and neither the seasons nor the elements care about their fragility. The rabbits know they cannot defeat these threats in a head-on confrontation: only through their speed, ingenuity, and steady nerves can they hope to escape the dangers of the outside world. The Warren is designed for 3-5 players and can be played in a single 2-hour session or over multiple sessions. The campaign unfolds following the cycle of the seasons and focuses on the succession of rabbit generations: each new generation has its own story to tell. This game is inspired by the thousand animal stories of past centuries, including some classics about rabbits like Watership Down, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, and The Fifteen Rabbits. The game system is based on Apocalypse World, but in The Warren, the protagonists are the animals, and humans are the apocalypse.
