Troika

Very easy to learn tricky to play kind of rhummy game. My kind of game. We played as 2player only but I enjoyed it a lot. Quick, simple, balancing choices, timing decisions. I love the game design, I love the graphic design. +++ Played again. We'd both forgotten how much we enjoyed it! Must keep playing this.

This is a very fun simple little game in a tiny package, there is a surprising level of strategy here considering the simplicity. It has a very small footprint on the table but a pleasant color palette.

I'm always impressed by how low some of these games are ranked (6.2 atm). Troika integrates rummy-like hand building mechanics with a timer that is relatively managed by the players themselves. Rounds are tense, specially when half of the tiles have been revealed and nobody has managed to get fuel (a set of 3), working with the knowledge of your hidden tiles is crucial to avoid someone taking the tile you needed out of spite (something which happens very often). This is one of my go-to games with my partner, albeit it works much better with 3-4 players as in the 2 player game there's very little chance of someone ending the round without fuel.

This is quite a nifty set collection game, in a tiny box. Flip a tile, then take or return a tile. The aim is to collect runs, and at least one group, of exactly 3 numbers. Simple but fun.
