Upon a Fable places you in the role of a monarch ruling a small kingdom in a fairy tale world. During the game, you'll seek to increase your fortune, expand your kingdom's size and influence, and collect precious fairy tale wonders related to Magic, Love, Honor, Followers and Castles. The player with the highest point value at the end wins.

Description
In Upon a Fable, players assume the role of a grand ruler in the fairy tale lands and start the game with one Small Realm (the Home Realm) overseen by a loyal Fable subject. During the nine game rounds, each ruler seeks to expand their fortunes through a variety of methods, including: adding more Small Realms to gain the support of more Fables (which in turn, grant additional game actions each round); expanding the size and influence of their realms, from Small to Large to Epic; playing Ever After cards that influence the flow of the game; and gathering the valuable fairy tale wonders of Magic, Love, Honour, Followers, and Castles. None of these paths to greatness can be ignored, for only the most well-rounded ruler without weakness in any domain shall be granted victory over the others and awarded the title of High Emperor or Empress. At the end of the game, the player with the highest total Point value – accumulated through the variety of different methods outlined above – is the winner.

This game has become a weekly gaming night tradition. My entire family enjoys playing this game and I was extremely happy I supported it on Kickstarter.

awesome game, great intro to other like agricola. Made polymer clay resources, will make player pawns eventually. not the greatest worker placement out there, but will keep in collection because the theme is great and artwork is beautiful. It's one I really like and my husband feels we have "outgrown"

If you enjoy worker placement style games, this is a good one. Has a great balance of luck versus strategy and the frustration level - even if you aren't winning - is pretty low.

Unique resource gathering game with a fairy tale element. Gather "wonders" to buy realms which give you more workers to place. Dreams and Ever After cards add unique game elements. Hard to tell who's winning until the very end, thus keeping everyone competitive.
