Valley of Hell is a game of the Army of Vietnam’s (ARVN) invasion of Laos in 1971. It was the First major ARVN offensive of the Vietnam war and its objective was the North Vietnamese Army’s (NVA) supply base at Tchepone, Laos. Base 604 at Tchepone occupied a strategic junction of the Ho Chi Minh trail approximately 50 kilometers from the Laotian/Vietnamese border. This base served as a critical supply link for all NVA operations in Vietnam. It was believed that its destruction, however, temporary would set NVA operations back considerably. In addition, an exclusive ARVN victory against the NVA would do much to bolster confidence in its ability to take over the defense of South Vietnam in the wake of United States troop withdrawals. Â
