Description Description
Werewolf takes place in a small village which is haunted by werewolves.

Each player is secretly assigned a role - Werewolf, Villager, or Seer (a special Villager). There is also a Moderator who controls the flow of the game.

The game alternates between night and day phases. At night, the Werewolves secretly choose a Villager to kill. Also, the Seer (if still alive) asks whether another player is a Werewolf or not. During the day, the Villager who was killed is revealed and is out of the game. The remaining Villagers then vote on the player they suspect is a Werewolf. That player reveals his/her role and is out of the game.

Werewolves win when there are an equal number of Villagers and Werewolves. Villagers win when they have killed all Werewolves. Werewolf is a social game that requires no equipment to play, and can accommodate almost any large group of players.

Really great game. More people you have, the better the game gets. And also, all you need to have for this game is pen and paper.

Some of my absolute best memories come from this game. I had some epic victories, being the quet inncoent-looking one. Also it solves the player elimination issue, because it's so much fun to watch things unfold knowing who is who.

I really love Mafia in many forms - I started with browser based "flash" games that often incorporated over-the-top themes and player role powers, but my favorite games are month~ long play by forum affairs - I'm one of the crazy people who will defend "mountain" all vanilla town citizen mafia without even seers/doctor as I think with enough player interaction and voting pattern discussion you can apply strategies and it is much more than luck. I do have most of my plays in open mafia games with balanced town powers though.

The pre-moderator version is genius, where players control the pace of their own game. Adding the mod and creating a strict structure kinda dumbs things down and makes this game last forever.

A classic game that we always played in school, every teacher had a copy and we would play it every time we finished the course topic days in advance or after exams
