Wingspan Pocket condenses the Wingspan experience into a lighter, shorter, and card-based game where each player activates a single row of cards each turn.
The cards are all double-sided: one side dedicated to food and one side dedicated to birds. Bird powers are indicated primarily by icons rather than text and include a new type of power, permanent benefits. Wingspan Pocket is designed to be accessible to beginner players, but also engaging for more experienced ones: it is a standalone game in a compact box, not an expansion (the birds are not compatible with Wingspan), and features birds from around the world.

A gem! For what it is designed to be - excellent!! For those evenings when we don’t have that much time but still want a fun little competitive game. I was amazed at how into it I was by the end. It felt neither too short not too long. And, the more I've played, the more strategy I'm learning.
I've played somewhere between 25-30 games with 2-4 players. Feels fresh every time and I really enjoy it! The goals in the advanced rules add much needed value to egg-strategies and adds extra elements to consider when picking birds. The feel when you manage to assemble a synergistic flock is awesome.
So good. So clever. So tiny. I love unpacking my giant wingspan nesting box to play “Birds” with family but this quick and tiny version hits the spot. Easy to learn, easy to play but hard to dominate in…truly wonderful. Plus it fits in my carryon for travel!
Wingspan Pocket is a terrific way to play my beloved Wingspan game in a smaller and slightly faster format. After two games with family, we agree we can't wait to play it again. We have all previous Wingspan tabletop versions since the game was released, so our learning curve was short, but even the small hiccups were easily resolved by consulting the clear game instruction booklet. Love the portable box. We are fans of Wingspan!
Very excited to play the automa more and share this distillation with friends who bounced off its big mamma! SO and I absolutely love our expanded base copy, but it only gets tabled on weekends or staycation afternoons. This swift version is a perfect weeknight game for two Wingspan fans. Its so satisfying to focus on building and running the single engine. Since we are fully vested in Wingspan we haven't tried Wyrm or Fin. Hoping for pocket versions of Wing's sister games too, please and thank you, Stonemaier!
