I would play this game any time. I have played it many times and even grown fond of the little horses. While combining tactics, luck, and bluffing, this game does not forget to be fun. It is particularly good when played with the betting markers face down. It also plays beautifully with just two people.

Simple game but a lot more than meets the eye. There's a fair amount of strategy in picking your bids, both in relation to your opponents and also taking into account your horses' performance. But more than that, the theme is very evocative and creates a very tense atmosphere. Packs a lot for a short, simple game. Moreover, plays very well with 6. Just brilliant.

[thread=1630656]My review[/thread] This game has provided some of the most riotous good times I've had in tabletop gaming. The rules are simple, but the interactions and direct conflict are superb. I play with blind bidding, which ups the stakes. The moment of recognized betrayal when another player tanks the horse you thought they were helping--pure gold. I also love that the horses take on personality and character as you play. My group will sometimes bet on Sysonby, but most of the time we avoid him. There are always a few longshot bets on Regret. EDIT 12/17: Today, Regret won the race and the pace chip in TWO MOVES. Unbelievable.

+ wood betting tokens Essen 2016 promo Great, fun, betting game with bluffing, diplomacy and "take that" gameplay, too. Not really a racing game as you do not have your own horse(s) and horses may very unrealistically move anything from 0 spaces on one turn and up to 20 spaces on the next turn. For an actual racing game see "Leader 1" and "Race! Formula 90" and "Powerboats".
