It keeps a little of the base game, a little of the awakening expansion, and adds some new tweaks, which, with the new cards and new scenarios, add replayability and more fun to an outstanding game. The awakening expansion meant big novelties to the game (awakening and reaction markers, civil war, caliphate...). This one doesn,t imply big changes nor new rules, but you need to know the awakening one. Anyway, it is worth it to follow the evolution of the game with new scenarios and events.

Only cosmetic changes in rules compared to the previous expansion: 'The Awakening'. All previous rules are adopted and the main difference is a whole new deck of cards. So if you grew to like the new mechanisms The Awakening introduced, you wouldn't complain about this expansion. The first scenario ('Fall of ISIL') makes you realize the impact and the importance of Civil Wars. Something that I completely underestimated when playing The Awakening.
I am the Developer. I tend to only Develop games I like, a lot. Labyrinth is one of those games - I actually like Forever War more than Awakening, but that could be biased because I worked on it. There are 4 new scenarios in this box (plus 2 variants for the campaign, plus the Surge scenario originally in C3i), so combined with Awakening (which you MUST own to play forever war), there's now about a dozen setups for Labyrinth, and these are some of my favorites.
I am going to play this one shortly. A cursory scan of the new cards makes me believe that this is another great expansion to Labyrinth.
This is yet another great expansion to an already great game. It builds nicely off of the last expansion using Awakening and Reaction mechanics as well as having players manage around civil wars. Many exciting and some frustrating moments but an overall challenge and good time.
