Layering is overlap: cards or tiles placed on top of one another, covering part of what was there and leaving a single slice visible. The game lies in deciding what to hide and what to keep in view, and in building combinations that only reveal themselves when you read the finished stack. It appeals to players who like visual puzzles and games with a strong aesthetic side.
These are light-to-medium titles: 45 minutes on average, 2 to 6 players, recommended age 10 and up. Forest Shuffle (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) tucks animal cards under trees for 2 to 5 players in an hour, and FOREST SHUFFLE: ALPINE (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) is its expansion. Canvas stacks transparent cards into paintings, for 1 to 5 in half an hour; Duck & Cover (EDIZIONE INGLESE) is a 20-minute filler for up to 7.
