Fantastic addition. The new factions from this expansion combined with Fang & Fortune makes Ahoy a 8 to a 10. We really enjoyed the team mode as well.
Super solid expansion. Personally I would go for Fang and Fortune first if I had to pick, because these factions do feel somewhat similar to the OG's. That said, they did a great job creating more options that fill the very specific niche that they need to. Very happy to own this one, and if you love Ahoy you'll want it too. Not necessary, but very nice to have. Adds tons of replayability to an already stellar game.
These two factions are, in my opinion, much more fun than the Sharks and Mollusks. They are a touch more complex, but their intrinsic puzzles are more satisfying to figure out. If you're a fan of ahoy, I don't only recommend this to add more variety, but because I really think these factions are a lot more fun to play.
Neither added faction greatly changes the economy of the game, but each provides a unique theme and puzzle to wrestle with alongside a recognizable uptick in complexity. No crazy innovations, just solid additions.
