In the mountain city of Altera, conflicts are no longer resolved on the battlefield, but at the Ascension Festival. Each year, the great factions gather, convinced that ambition, ingenuity, and unity can shape a better future than war ever could.

Altera is a worker placement game with bag building and dice, featuring simultaneous selection. Each round, players draw and roll their dice, then deploy Emissaries to chart the path to victory. Where you send the Emissaries determines which of the three Guilds you gain Reputation with. At the end of each round, the player with the most Reputation in a Guild gains Prestige and returns to the bottom of that Guild's track, making room for others. Over seven rounds, you build your engine, outpace rivals, and accumulate the Prestige needed to ascend to the High Council.
