Barrage: The China Challenge

The China Challenge introduces a new thematic map compatible with the expansion The Leeghwater Project, featuring three main innovations.

Landscape Tiles: 18 additional structures covered by building tiles indicating the required costs. Once built, the tile is removed to reveal the completed structure and reconfigure the map. Building a Landscape Tile grants a bonus of choice from the appropriate region level (mountain, hill, or plain). The tiles can modify the map, add new common action spaces, or provide permanent effects.

New Map – The Yellow River: introduces two Natural Lakes on the board, where water drops stop if there is available space.

Final Company – China: China enters Barrage as the last company, compatible with the base game and all expansions. Pressure conduits (penstock) provide a +1 bonus to the normal value but require 1 additional concrete mixer to be built; the bonus applies when used by other players, with increasing costs after the second and fourth conduit. Chinese power plants have different shapes and can be built in any order: the 1st without special bonus; the 2nd increases production value by +2; the 3rd earns 1 VP for every 2 energy produced; the 4th produces energy as if it had used 1 additional water drop.
