The capital of the Kingdom of Azadmere is an imposing fortified settlement, complete with moat, sturdy double walls and imposing towers. It is the third-oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Hârn, surpassed only by the Sindarie cities of Elshavel and Ulfshafen. The Outer City extends between Lake Arain and an imposing cliff at the foot of Mount Zaduryn: it is home to the shops of most of the city's craftspeople and the dwellings of human residents. The Inner City is carved into the living rock of the mountain: its extensive chambers and galleries are home to the Khuzdul, many of whom work in the Outer City. Very few humans have access to the Inner City. From its tunnels numerous mines branch off and lead to the Godstone, in the heart of the mountain. The mines produce iron, precious metals and gems; khuzan artifacts are made in small quantities but highly sought after throughout Hârn for their quality.
The article on City of Azadmere describes the city's districts and its many shops and places of interest. In addition to a full-page color map for players, color maps are provided for the game master for each district, along with schematic plans of the galleries and chambers of the Inner City. Detailed descriptions and color plans are included for parts of the Inner City, the fortress at the top of the mountain, the royal inn, a typical khuzan clan-house and an apothecary shop.
