Description
City of Gears is a unique steampunk game of exploration, area control, worker placement, and strategy. From your mighty Factory, you must race to claim ownership over the magnificent ruins of an abandoned clockwork metropolis. Each game plays in under an hour, and because only nine of the city tiles (from dozens available) are randomly chosen and placed each game, no two games ever play the same.
Each turn, you roll a number of production dice, then you move your automaton workers and perform a variety of actions (such as drawing and placing gears to reactivate areas of the city, sabotaging opponents, and activating unique steam powers) as determined by the production dice. Along the way, you will develop your factory with special powers which set it apart and provide you with powerful bonuses.
As the city is revealed and its abilities are discovered, players must concoct plans to accrue prestige and hinder opponents so that once Opening Day arrives, they will emerge victorious! Do you have what it takes to set the City of Gears in motion?

Played a three player game tonight. It was brisk, easy to teach and we loved not knowing when the game was going to end. The number of tiles and the large number of gears means lots of variation. We really liked it.

Brilliant unique area control and engine building mechanism that really makes the difference from other board games that I own. Easy to learn for casual players and really good for hard core players also. Lots of different tiles, make every single game feeling different, generating a unique city each time. This factor boosts replay ability a lot. Very good quality materials and overall production. With 4 players first play took us less than an hour of game play, with a lot of fun and interaction between us, so its really fast also! I strongly recommend this game!!!

I would suggest playing this game with 3-4 players. It's a neat game that many people don't have. It's a highly thematic steampunk, worker placement game where you try to revive an old city through the placement of gears. Different abilities and factory upgrades score you victory points. The game ends when a player has connected the entire city with his or her gear color; the victor is the one who ends up with the most VP. TheGameCrafter game. Note: 4 player games are really short becuse the gears get depleted.

Really impressed with this one. Even my 10 year old niece loves playing this game with me. Seemed really overwhelming at first but half way thru the first game she had everything figured out. Kickstartery Founders Edition, with Juggernaut mini expansion
