This is my preferred two-player deck-builder. It’s almost as quick to set up as Star Realms, the grimoire and exiles make market manipulation even more interesting than in The Quest for El Dorado, and the multiple victory conditions give me the kind of variety I enjoy more than simply choosing what cards to play with in Dominion. I’ll never play it with more than two players, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t willing to play it over and over with the same opponent.

- 180 cards (63.0mmx88.0mm)

Full Disclosure: I know the designer. However, this is the only game of his that is so good that it prompted me to go rate it. This game very very different than other things on the market, and is something everybody who loves deckbuilders should play at least once so that they understand what can be done.
EDIT: Upgraded to a 10 after five games today. Awesome game. Not Dominion, which is cool because we ALREADY HAVE DOMINION. PREVIOUS: It’s a 9 for now because we haven’t had it for long, but it genuinely feels like a 10. We think this game is spectacular. We’ve played two and three player so far (three games at each count) and while turns aren’t super snappy they haven’t never felt any longer winded than combo rich Dominion turns. You can really see the depth too (like a deep Lovecraftian well). Dark Pact is clever and thoughtful and clearly a labour of love and care, imagination and innovation. It deserves to be a smash IMHO. While we’re in France we’re grabbing copies for friends.
Perfect theme. So fun building your deck towards each of the win conditions, which provides a lot of replayability. Multipliers make for tense gameplay as you take increasingly large combos to hit your pact requirements. At 3 or 4, AP players will slow the game down, but if you take turns quickly it’s really not that bad and personally I think it’s fun watching how people play their turns out. Excellent solo mode as well!
It’s basically Dominion with a randomized market. During the game you’ll see “Dark Pact” cards in the market - these cards provide you with win conditions that you can build your deck to accomplish—as soon as you do, you win. My first few plays have been very smooth (played at 2p exclusively) both players found a Dark Pact card in the market relatively early on, built our decks accordingly, culminating in a turn where one player is able to put all the pieces together to win. EDIT: Up to 10 plays (all 2p) and this has become my wife and I’s favorite deckbuilder. 10/10, excellent.
